The Golem of New York was a Twelve Episode Motion Book series created by myself and superstar concept artist Sergio Sandoval (Pan's Labyrinth, Alma Cubrae) for Madefire Studios. It tells the story of thirteen-year-old Evan Adebowale, who discovers a mysterious Golem hidden within the walls of his Brooklyn apartment building. Befriending the creature, Evan and his family are thrown into a world of danger and superheroism when an immortal villain returns to claim the Golem as his own.
I acted as Co-Creator, Writer, and Editor for the first six Motion Books in the series, three of which were illustrated by Sergio and colored by Mado Peña. Animation was provided by Evan Limberger, with music and audio by Wendell Yuponce and lettering by A Larger World Studios. My tasks on the project included: narrative development, crafting story pitches and working scripts, hiring artists, Editorial, and supervising the final production of the Motion Books before stepping down as Editor in early 2021 to focus on scriptwriting for the series. The final product has yet to be released, and publishing rights remain with Madefire Studios. |
